Owen's Real Birthday

As I mentioned in past posts, it felt like we were celebrating Owen's birthday for 3 weeks straight. The necessarily early birthday party with his friends along with a steady flow of out of town cards and gifts (as well as gifts from visiting friends who held onto the gifts so they could see Owen's face as he got them) meant that we said, "Happy Birthday!" to O many times from late June to mid July.

Of course, it wasn't his "real" birthday until July 8. On that day, Karen and I took time off of work to spend the day with our eldest (and only him). It was a great time.

I had to go in to work for a few hours early so after dropping Logan off at day care, Karen and Owen went to have breakfast before coming home for some time for O to burn off some energy in our bounce house.

Then, she took Owen to the Mall of America so he could play on the rides and make a visit to Lego Land to pick out his Lego present from us.

He hit up all the rides he wanted to try (he chose the relatively tame rides but that wasn't surprising - this is Owen we're talking about after all) and got to have lunch at the Rain Forest Café.

Then, we were home. We picked up Logan, had dinner, and then cut into some ice cream cake (Owen's choice of flavor was chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate).

Happy (Real) Birthday, O!
