It had been awhile since we last saw Ben and Mel at our place and the boys were psyched for "Uncle Ben and Aunt Mel" to come over. Of course, they were even more psyched when they saw the belated birthday present for Owen (featuring an awesome droid gun ship Lego set) and the complimentary talking Hulk doll for Logi.
As you can see from the collage, it was a never ending light saber battle between Master Jedi Owen (utilizing the 2 saber fighting style) and his arch nemesis Sith Lord Ben. Master Owen was occasionally helped (and occasionally hindered) by his plucky Padawan Logan. Outside the house, inside the house, the battle raged on without end. By the end of the visit, the sweaty and panting Sith Lord Ben was totally overwhelmed.
Karen and I were able to relax for quite a bit of this visit. We let Ben take the lead and it was clear that he was having a blast. That said, in between saber battles, Ben was shocked to learn that it was NOT an entirely unusual display of activity and that Owen and Logan routinely put Karen and I through similar energy depleting bouts of play. I think he gained some perspective on the rigors of parenting boys O and Lo's age. We can't wait to have them back!
Good idea having someone else to entertain the kids.....grab those breaks when you can get them.
