Ma Day - Dinner at Ben and Mel's

On Mother's Day weekend, we accepted an invite for grilling out at Ben and Mel's house. After being a somewhat common occurrence in years past, it had been way too long since we all hung out and enjoyed a nice afternoon together. I guess having 2 kids versus 1 changes things a bit. Go figure. It was a fun (and easy prep) way to cap off a fun Mother's Day weekend.

Owen and Logan loved being outside all that time. They both got a chance to meet or again see Ben's cat, Yoda, play in the grass and dirt, and enjoy a safe backyard space full of the toys we brought along and the fun stuff (brooms, sticks, yard games, etc) already there. Owen is clearly a boy after my own heart as he loves picking up sticks or stick like items and swinging them around like a sword at other objects (what will happen if I smack that?) or his imaginary foes. Right now, Logan likes sticks too, but truly LOVES picking up and throwing balls - especially ones he can fit nicely into his small-size palm. He is showing an affinity for throwing at a much earlier age than his older bro. So much fun to see each of their differing play preferences. That said, I'm happy to say that they also both love wrestling around with their dad. Can't wait until we have our own safe backyard play space at the new house! It was so much fun goofing around with my boys outdoors! We'll have to make sure to start up a rotation between our place and Ben and Mel's this summer.
