July Colorado Road Trip - Denver Entry #4
One of the day trips we took while in Denver was to the largest Wild Animal Sanctuary in the world (outside Keenesburg, CO). It was nearly all predators and it was very large and very impressive. It was a very windy day up on the elevated walkway but that didn't ruin the views of the bears, wolves, ocelots, tigers, lions, and leopards. There were a few African porcupines tossed in for good measure as well. Most had been rescued from people who had been illegally keeping them for pets or for black market hides, meat, etc. Some were abused horribly, some were simply neglected or had grown too large and dangerous for their "owners" to keep.
