Karen recently archived all of our "Jake and Karen +1" blog into harcover book form. It is an excellent baby book/time capsule! So, since we will likely continue that practice and use these blog entries as a historical record, I thought I would just write about Logan's first week Dr. visit.
When he was released from the hospital, the lil' dude had expectedly lost a little poundage and weighed 7 lbs. 11 oz. Well, we knew he was an even better eater (out of the gate) than Owen initally was (and he was no slouch) so we weren't all that surprised to find out that just 6 days later, he had gained it all back and then some -- weighing in at 8 lbs. 13 oz.
We also weren't surprised to find that his head measured in a bit smaller than his big brother (at 14.5"). That (along with smaller ears and smaller cheeks) are among some of the more obvious differences Karen and I have noticed between the boys as newborns. That said, many of my co-workers have told me that the baby pics of Logan look just like Owen's baby pics and that there is no mistaking that they will be stamped as Ainslie brothers. Obviously, there will be a lot of evolving changes to watch in the years to come but considering that O-Fred is such a good looking little man (if I do say so myself), it is comforting to think that Lo-Chuck is based on the same basic model. ;-P
So, according to the statistics Logan is at the 69th percentile for his weight and the 60th percentile for his head size. The doc said that he was extremely healthy and not to bother with a 1-month check-up. Instead, he felt comfortable waiting until he hit the 2-month mark. That was good to hear. At this point, we have established the baseline. Now we just watch him grow!
Jan (Grandma) is visiting now and Chuck will be in town in a few days, so I will try to post some pics of the last few days to clear the way (chronologically speaking) for pics of the grandparents enjoying their Ainslie grandchildren.
Glad the Dr was so pleased! Fred sees alot of Karen in Logan so he is a good mix. Nani
