Owen's First Day of Kindergarten - 9.2.2014

Well. It is now "O" fficial ... Owen is a "school-ager." Hard to fathom he is already a backpack wearin', bus ridin', public-school-attendin', homework doin' kid.

He is on the young side for his class but with his keen intellect, excellent social skills, and healthy dose of respect for rules and authority he is far beyond being ready for school. He's a sponge soaking up knowledge everywhere he goes.

We took LOTS of photos of the first day. Here are a bunch of my favorites:

The excitement bubbled forth at breakfast.
First series of shots for the historical record (indoor version).

Showing off his awesome Star Wars "O.F.A." backpack.
The outdoor chalk shot - we'll keep trying for this one in years to come.

He was getting really goofy excited at this point. Most of my pics from this outdoor shoot were blurry because he was running and dancing around the driveway.
Owen and his good friend Collin are the two kindergartners catching the bus from daycare. They hold the daycare director's hand as they prepare to cross the street for the bus stop.
O and Collin waiting with the other kids at the bus stop. Karen and I - along with Collin's parents - stood by and watched. The moms were a bit misty eyed. The boys? There was no anxiety. Just excitement. I was super proud of our little man. He was so clearly ready for this moment.
The bus! I see the bus!
And off they went.

Quick note: It wasn't a fluke. Owen was just as happy about going to his 3rd day of school as he was for his first. His excited rapid fire stories about what happened at school are a highlight of our evening and dinner time conversations.
