Logan Has Happy Feet

Logan was recently introduced to "organized" (loosely used term in this case) soccer by a pre-school program/league that visits New Horizons every week and plays soccer skill games with any kids that joined up. Because of their age, it's a lot of singing and imagination play with their soccer ball (named "Bob") in an effort to teach basic foot skills, teamwork, and the overall coach/player dynamic. He loves it. So, we decided to take it a half step further and have him play in an outside-of-school "league" of 4 and 5 year old kids in the same Happy Feet program. That meant for a few Saturday mornings in the fall of 2015, he was out there on a small grass field getting a feel for soccer with his family there to watch him and cheer him on.

He has been the one on the sidelines watching his older bro play for awhile now and so it was no surprise that he was one of the more "natural" players. He has a strong leg and likes to mix it up with other kids. For perspective, it is important to understand that at any time during any "match" in this league half of the players are wandering off, throwing a tantrum, leaving the field to get hugs from their mom or dad, pointing at airplanes or police cars, or slipping away to a nearby playground.

So, any kid that can keep his focus for more than 5 minutes at a time is a superstar. There are about 5 kids out of 16+ that can do that. Logan is one of them.

It has been fun watching him. I have a feeling there are many years ahead of us watching the little man play sports.

In early October, my parents visited and took a few more shots of one of Logan's practices. A much chillier morning that day.
