Catching Up From Last Month - Nani Visits Twice

November was a very unfortunate month for the Stoll family. My grandmother Mari fell and broke her hip. As of early December she has been in surgery two times as the surgically repaired hip "popped out" a few weeks afterwards. Surgery at any age is no joke. At 89 it is downright risky. But, thankfully, Mari is one tough lady. After two times under the knife, she is doing as well as can be expected and regaining her strength and mobility - one day at a time.

One way or the other, though, she is no longer going to be able to live in her current home when her recovery is over. We're not sure exactly where she'll be, but it will be a significantly smaller place and very likely will be assisted living.

The only silver lining for us was that my mom (aka Nani) came down two separate times and spent time with us when she wasn't busy seeing Mari or working out various details with family about Mari's surgery, her insurance coverage, and the necessary downsizing of her current possessions in preparation for moving to her new home.

The following pics are a collection from both of my Mom's visits.

Early November Visit
Nani and Owen play with magnet blocks and get in a few Memory card games
Then the "Logan Monster" arrives to smash down the blocks!

  1. The great thing about those visits was no matter what was going on with Mari during the day I knew I could come back and mellow out with my family.....all four. We built, laughed, sang, ate, and played games. Great time together. Nani
